[edit] Information

Was Isaac Asimov right? Can We Reach the Stars? is both an important question and an engrossing video presentation produced for the Discovery Channel. Science fiction authors have always had to invent weird, vague technologies to help their heroes and villains break Einstein's light-speed limit, but today some scientists and astronauts think they might be able to develop cosmic fuzz-busters that can help us reach out beyond the solar system. Through innovative graphics, interviews with key players such as Buzz Aldrin, and footage from research facilities worldwide, Can We Reach the Stars? paints an optimistic picture of our future in space. Perhaps we'll have colonies on other planets or slow-moving space families whose great-great-great-(etc.)-grandchildren will one day find a new New World. Alternatively, physicists might actually devise a system for "warping" space--making a sort of back road around the light-speed cops. Whatever happens, though, if the future is anything like this program, we're sure of interesting times.
