[edit] Information
Griff Rhys Jones travels across Canada, from the Atlantic coast to the Pacific northwest, visiting each of the nation's provinces.
[edit] Bigness
Griff's journey begins at the eastern most point in Newfoundland and Labrador, where he gets a taste of these regions' unique character, from tiny islands, sea shanties and cod tongue, to jellybean houses, noonday canons and big dogs.
[edit] Frenchness
He uncovers the beating heart of Canada's Frenchness in the province of Quebec. From bagels and poutine to beavers and ice hockey, Griff explores just how French Canada really is, and reveals how its history and diversity has helped shaped "la belle province" and the multicultural Canada of today.
[edit] Niceness
Griff explores the province of Ontario, right on the US border. From Niagara Falls and film sets in Toronto to forested national parks and unique encounters, Griff uncovers how Canadians differ from their southern neighbours and ponders what it is that makes them so nice.
[edit] Coldness
Griff explores the frozen wilds of Canada's north, in the province of Manitoba. From Winnipeg to Churchill, he travels from the country's coldest city to a town with more polar bears than people. He tries his hand at dog sledding and does his best not to freeze, while exploring what it is that entices people to the cold, and why the north is so important to Canada.
[edit] Emptiness
Griff explores the prairies and vast sprawling plains of the Saskatchewan and Alberta provinces. He discovers that, far from empty, they hide a diversity of riches, from ancient buffalo herds to dinosaur fossils and acres of cultivated farmland.
[edit] Happiness
Griff finishes his journey across Canada in the popular lifestyle province of British Columbia. From snow-capped mountains and the Pacific Ocean to ski villages and surf towns, Griff uncovers what it is about living in the Pacific northwest that makes people strive for happiness. As the adventure comes to an end, he reflects on his journey across Canada and shares what he has learnt about the country and its people.
